A Weather Nightmare!

12th January 2015 | Beauty, Hair, Nails

This week the weather forecast for our part of the world is….

ASCF Weather

WET, WINDY & COLD! This isn’t really that unusual for the UK, so we thought that a few hints & tips on how to look after you Hair, Skin, Nails & Make-Up over the coming winter weeks that may just help keep you to feel just a little bit happier!

Haircare

Hair care for winter should change as it does for skincare, seasonally. Colder months leave our scalps feeling dry and the ends of our hair brittle. The key to success with keeping your hair looking ravishing is enriched moistures and oils. Hot showers and wearing hats too often adds too much heat to the cuticles which in turn leads to flat, dull looking hair.

Experts suggest shampooing your hair less and using rich conditioning treatments during the winter months will aid greatly in keeping your hair fabulous. There are two products that we have hand picked that should do just the trick in keeping your hair at its best, both products are from the Joico range.

Joico eat, sleep and breathe hair and they develop top preforming hair products that keep your hair healthy. The product we recommend from the Joico range is the ‘Smooth Cure Leave in Rescue Treatment‘. It contains oil extracts and is perfect for prepping your hair before using hair dryers or straightners. Using leave in treatments is beneficial for any season however in the winter months your hair needs that extra bit of TLC in order to protect itself from the harsh conditions Hydrolized Keretin is the products secret, it replenshes lost protein in the hair and strengthens, straightens, and protects hair from high humidity.

Skincare

Everyone raves about exfoliating however in the winter this needs to be cut right down, too much exfoliating will lead to scrubbing away that summer skin. The cold weather is harsh on your skin and often leaves it pretty much dry & dull. Moisturising is key to keeping your skin looking and feeling healthy. Two products that help aid in winter care for the skin are Dermaquest Revive Cream & Temple Spa Quench Mask.

Dermaquest Revive Cream is a number one product that helps stimulate collagen and elastin development. This product is perfect for the winter months, the deep penetrating silky cream promotes firmness, softness and elasticity. It works as a moisturiser and also holds water to your skin.

Temple Spa Quench Mask makes your face appear ‘dewy’. Its moisturizing and hydrating which is perfect for when you need to look your best and diminishes that dull winter skin look.

Nail care

The cold weather can dehydrate your nails and cuticles, with your nails being dehydrated they can in turn be prone to breakage and discolouration. Using a good hand moisturiser and make sure you really rub into the cuticles and nail beds will help to keep them hydrated and nicely nourished throughout the winter months, everyone will tell you to make sure you drink plenty of water but it really will help in keeping your nails hydrated as well.

The perfect nail product that will help with nourishing your nails during the cold season is the Jessica Nourish Cuticle Cream, it’s a pure blend of vitamins, zinc and allatoin and the cream provides instant hydration to the nails and cuticles which is perfect for keeping your nails looking first class this winter.

Make-Up

With the weather affecting your normal makeup routine a few things need to be adapted with main priority being your skin care. Making sure the skin is fully hydrated and moisturiszed will help aid the makeup application.

We love Simply Brush and Go Colourflo Mineral Foundation by Susan Posnick, it is invisible and completely weightless on the skin and with the added benefit of this foundation being fully enriched with vitamins A & E which will nourish the skin. Using a nourishing foundation rather than a full coverage foundation will help stop the pores clogging up and keep the skin feeling light and refreshed.
