Creativity, passion and flawless technique greet every client at A Salon Called Fish. If you’re looking for a trim, touch-up or a total hair makeover, our stylists will deliver natural results that reflect your personality and lifestyle.
We are constantly evolving and finding inspiration in everything from design & fashion to architecture & international hair trends. On top of all this, we believe you should be able to look as good as you do when you leave the salon for weeks after your visit. But how?
We also realise that a change of style can often be one of the biggest dilemmas for our clients and they turn to us and ask “What style do you think would suit me?”.
So we thought we might let you in on our thinking when we consultant with our clients as to what would suit them best and one of the main criteria is the shape of the face. In this blog we narrow this down to 7 main face shapes, and here they are:
The Oval Face- Perfectly balanced proportions
The face is approximately 1 & 1/2 times longer than the width of the brow. People who have this face shape can pretty much do whatever they want with their hair depending on their facial features.
The Square Face – Wider & Squarer
The face has a wide, square temple area and jaw line. We look to avoid jaw length hairstyles and look at styles that will diffuse the squareness with featuring & volume.
The Oblong Face – Longer length
The face has a longer length than wide, with hollow cheeks. Volume at the sides must be considered, but we look to avoid that same volume on top. Chin Length styles can work well, as can fringes.
The Round Face – Round Hair line
A round hairline and chin create a circular appearance. Hair that is too short is and too much volume on the sides is an absolute no no, however, a little more volume on top could help.
The Heart Face – Inverted Triangle
This face has a pointed appearance at the chin with a wider forehead. Excessive height and volume on the top must be avoided, as this can give the impression of a more pointed chin.
The Triangle Face – Pear Shaped
This face has a narrower forehead and a wider chin line. Adding height to the top and temple areas or a strategically placed fringe can give the illusion of a wider forehead.
The Diamond – Wider Cheek bones
This face shape has the appearance of a narrower forehead and chin, but with more prominent cheek bones. Adding volume on top & considering a fringe can help. We also consider volume at the jawline.
So if you are considering a change of style, you know that at ‘A Salon Called Fish’ we will take every care to ensure that the style will suit the shape of your face and in our next blog will cover facial features, the second most important factor when choosing the right style for you.
If in the meantime you want to transform your hair, please book in for a consultation and we’ll be happy to help point you in the right direction.
